Clymer calls it the "manual choke spring". It is part of the manual choke mechanism located on the port side of the carburetors on my 1972 Johnson 100hp.

Clymer has a nice exploded view of the manual choke but no clear pictures of it assembled.

Can anyone tell me where both ends of this thing go, or post a pic of it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

My book shows that the spring one end goes under the screw that holds that plate you got pictured on.
Then it lines up toward the long slot when you put the little round choke bar thru it (the slot)
the other end of the spring slips over it
hope this helps

okay...so the one end goes under the screw like this...

The other end hooks over the brass knob that moves the choke plates?
