That s/n for a 150 comes up as:

V-150 6 4868998 1978
V-150 6 5129480 1979

from here:

Because 1979 begins with a s/n greater than yours, it is a 1978

Gerrymandering could u give me hand #2 next too arm and serial. 1026-5189 cylinder head cover..I have number 8586 65663 3035 that's all I see jetted. O74 13-1 carbs 13745427 a 1978? 175hp correct

The starter solenoid matches the 150hp yet as you said it could have been replaced. The numbers (1750) were read off of the cover that mounts on two bolts too cover the carbs.

Mercury black max casting 858-6286 78 also 175hp I ithink???

Cylinder bore is 3 inches 1,/8

Old first generation block with mis-matched front crankcase half. Could be 150 or 175. Since front half has been changed could have blew up at one time.
