New to me, 2 months, 1997 Yamaha 150 ProV outboard powering 21 foot Anger CC, was running great. Took boat off lift for winter servicing, put on fresh water flushing adapter, after running three minutes at 1500 turns, get an alarm? Checked water flow, plenty of water flowing. Water is coming out of **** tube. Checked oil, plenty of oil in tank and engine mounted tank. Motor does not seem to be hot. Let stand 30 minutes, restartred, same thing alarm/buzzer. I am not sure whether the alarm is oil or heat related.
Questions:
1. How did I tell whether alarm is overheating or low oil? Boat and motor new to me with no literature.
2. How do I check to ensure thermostat is good/bad?
3. How much water flow should I get from **** tube at idle and 1500 turns with fresh water hose connected?
4. ROUGHLY... if the water pump needs to be replaced, what is a reasonable price to expect to pay, NORTHERN NECK Virginia, ;) at a reputable marine retailer?

Any other suggestions, I am new to outboards but have considerable experience with automobile engines.
Thanks in advance
Bill
