The carb on my 05 Nissan has never been apart or cleaned. I run it dry in the winter, dump fresh fuel with Marine Stabil in it in the spring and run it all season long (with new plugs of course). It's never given me any reason to think it urgently needs cleaned. It does run a little rough at idle but it has never stalled and doesn't give me much trouble starting up (I don't know what RPM it's idling at yet but I intend on getting a tach). It stands to reason it could use a good cleaning but outboards are not my expertise. I did pick up a factory Tohatsu service manual and Chapter 7 gives a little hint of what to look for but other than that I don't know what to expect. Is it as simple as disassembly, soak and reassembly? Are there any adjustments that need to be made other than the throttle stop and throttle linkage?
I see individual carb parts appear to be available and not very costly, would I be better off replacing parts like the main nozzle, main/slow jets, float valve and accelerator pump parts? Any other gaskets or rubber parts I should be on the lookout for?

Besides fuel pump thin diaphragams that warped, ballooned due to E fuels have not changed other carb internal spare parts in zillion meterd worked hours. Always run bowl dry after each outing, being mine a 2 strokes same HP. The only part that could wear due to extreme prolonged use is carb needle and float, bowl o'ring. Have you ever decarboned your engine with carbon guard products sprayed through the carb with engine on ? works miracles.

If counting with a new engine that was well factory adjusted and running well, with a vernier tool measure the height in mm from lower screw base to upper screw head for both mixture and idle screws. Clean carb and place same way as founded. Adjust idle screw CCW enough for engine to remain on while shifting to forward, if dies, adjust bit more. Warm engine enough prior to idle adjsutment.

Happy Boating

I've never sprayed anything in the carb besides fogging oil at the end of the season. Honestly I should probably not mess with the carb in my case, I'm worried I could cause more harm than good.
