You crack the hull, take an ice cream scoop and roll out the meat. Make into a nice meatball size ball, dip in milk then roll in spiced cornmeal and throw into hot grease. This is called gar balls and is wonderful. Only good when fresh, not frozen. What a huge fish, there are many in the Sabine river in the 4' size but never anything nearly this big.

that fish is so big its scary. i've seen some 4 ftrs, but never that big. hmm, i think i saw a pic from the 1930's of a 110# but it was longer & skinnier. <br />i don't feel safe in freshwater no more :(

Sam Rayburn Reservoir near Lufkin, Texas, it beat the previous lake record by 2.5 lbs; state bow & arrow record currently is 290 lbs
