Email notices are now kind of working. I am now getting a notice for every reply to just one topic and it is a busy one. This morning when I opened my email there were 11 emails for the same thread/topic. Yesterday was the same thing. I tried going to unsubscribe but I guess that didn't work. Could a mod help me out with this?

What topic is giving you fits, bonz?
In the mean time - Look at Notifications in your profile. Set to On, daily. That should give a single daily email with all your notifications in on email. Notice I said should.

You shoulda said it was WOG's Flamingo topic. Did you try setting up the daily email instead?

Well 1st of all WOG is a great member and contributor and I didn't want to disrespect him by bowing out of his thread Though I know it happens at times.

Next I fully understand that there have been some big changes made to the forum and how things operate sinse the upgrade. Things I'll have to relearn. But up until two days ago I wasn't getting any notices for any topics. Then it was only Woods topic even though there are many other topics I am subscribed to. The it seems the unsubscribe function is not working.

I am on and off the forum all day long as many others are, yet have my email open all day long, and having to use the once a day notice would be very inconvienent as some of the topics I follow very closely while others I just observe. The old way of receiving notices was very convienent. Just one email until the topic was revisited.

So I guess my next question is do we now have to subscribe to each topic we post a response in?

BTW the forum is working much better each and every day from what I'm seeing. Soon we will be back to normal operations it seems!

The whole subscription/email notification thing is proving to be a tough nut to crack for support. I had to turn it all off because it became unmanageable for me.
As far as subscribing to topics you post in, it's purely a matter of personal preference. I know that's not a cut and dried answer, but there are so many variations that there is no definitive answer. Until the bugs are worked out, we have work up solutions that do what works for us as users.
My Wood comment was a joke, that's why it ended with a smilie.

Don't get me wrong, I'm onboard for all there is and I'm sure the folks behind the scenes are doing everything in their power to work it out..

Just used to the auto subscribe from the previous version which is why I ask do I need to subscribe to each topic I post in now. And I agree that for me also it would be easier to turn it off completely and just scroll thru than to get an email for every response.

I also have a lot of respect for the contrabutions that Wood brings to the forum but his "Splashed" is getting a bit long. Not that I don't enjoy his effort and passion.

We have do some long topics here!
Plenty of features were really nice and easy to use in the previous version. The staff is working hard to bring the Forum back to the same level. It seems a small change in one area affects other areas. A case in point - Restoring the Mod/Admin labels caused the Cadet label display for the rest. It's not causing a functionality issue, but other changes have with the way things are intertwined.
I think, without digging into the code, the excessive emails are related to the way New Topics show all new posts to a topic instead of just the latest post. Again, possible interconnection between two seemingly unrelated areas. :noidea: for sure. And I don't really know about subscribing to each topic you post in. I guess try and see what happens.

Right now we are having issues with the email system. You currently have to subscribe to each thread individually, even ones that you start. There is no air subscribe feature that I have found in this version. also, it sounds like you have subscribed to WOG if you are receiving emails from topics and replies he has created. We are working on getting all the kinks worked out
