not shifting

still popping out of gear and pops back in when i slow down checked all the linkage and iam about to pull the gears and replace them unless i hear different from someone in the room 1966 rude 40 hp manual shift

Have you posted the problem before?...might have missed it. If it's jumping in and outta gear at WOT....like your hitting a log....lobes on the dog and gears are worn over.<br /><br />If it's just reving up and your slowing down...spun hub.

goes in with nopoblem but when i give it gas she pops out and when i pull the throttle back she will pop back in so she needs new gears i have a hole shaft with new gears on it another lower unit if i switch them it should work ?
