Not much water

I have a 2001 5.7GSi Volvo-Penta with captains call exhaust. When i look at videos of other people with CC exhaust even at idle they seem to be spraying out water like crazy out the side exhaust. My impeller was done last year and only about 25hrs have been put on the rig since then. But my CC exhaust at idle only seems to trickle out. It if tap the trottle it will spit it out the side exhaust pretty well but at idle just not to the extent to which i have seen on other CC exhaust. It stays cool running it on the water (about 150-160degrees) and water dumps out as it should out of that spot on the outdrive. So my question is... should it be pouring out the CC exhaust like the others is see do? Should i replace the impeller anyway? Thank you in advance for the input!

Not much water

Not much water comes out of my captains call exhaust at idle. When looking at videos online its seems like others have quite a bit comming out. The boat runs cool (150-160degrees) and it will spit pretty good out of the exhaust under power but not like i would think at a regular idle. The impeller was replaced about 2yrs/30hrs ago and i ordered a new one to try that. Thoughts? Thanks!

Re: Not much water

Ayuh,..... Is there water exitin' the idle relief ports, or prop,..??

Those exhaust diverters aren't exactly water tight, 'n generally only divert most of the exhaust, ;n some of the water....

A. Is your engine cool? You said yes, so that's good. B. Are you manifolds risers (if you still have em) cool? If yes, your good there too.

I would say that as long as your boat is out of the water and running on muffs, most of the water will come out of the idle reliefs or the center of the prop.

Very likely most of the folks here do not have your style exhaust, just the stock.

How bout some pics. Is this an above water exhaust? Is it through transome?

The Captains Call exhaust on this boat was an original factory install through the side of the hull. It is always above the water except for a couple seconds when going from a dead stop to plane.
