Not much water from the pee hole...

I have a 1990 85hp Yamaha and I have replaced the water pump and housing. There's a small flow of water coming out of the top hole but there's a rush coming out of the lower unit itself which leads me to believe there's either a seal not right where the tube goes into the housing or the tube's clogged. Sometimes it stops all together which makes me think there's a possible clog but I really don't know.
First, any suggestions on what to look at to see why there's not much flow? Secondly, is there an easy way to get to the top of the tube to make sure it's cleaned out all the way?
Chris

Should it have water coming out as soon as it starts or does the tstat need to warm for a while? Where's the relief valve?

I'm also curious if the water tube should just come out when I replace the water pump. Mine's stuck up in the motor and didn't know if it just pulled out or what it took to get it out.

Well I just went out and blew air into the hole where the tell tale hose hooks to the manifold and eneded up getting a good stream. I wonder if there's somethign floating around in there that would be causing tha back up...

hello
nope water tube stays in the exhaust housing. leave it there
the pressure valve is located under the t-stat cover.
sounds like ya have some scale or sand in there. does not take much
we fight it all the time here
good luck and keep posting
