Not going over 2 rpms

Hey all. So i got a question my 1986 yamaha 115 outboard has been having issues with going over 2 rpms. I can drive it under 2 rpms but as i push the throttle forward and it gets to 2 rpms the engine starts to shake alittle and it makes a pudding sound. I try to advance it and the sound of the motor gets louder but not going any faster. I noticed the oil sensor for the Reservoir on the side of the motor doesnt seem to work now and lights on dash for oil level and alarm does seem to work if i take the sensor out to check it. I have all spark and it idles fine but cant get the engine over 2 rpms. And ideas?

Is it possible that for the year of this motor could it go into limp mode?

never seen a motor that could run at only 2 rpm.
most idle at around 700 to 800 rpm

but yes over heat or low oil level will limit rpm on most motors that have that system

2 rpms means it takes 30 seconds to make 1 revolution.

Cranking speed is 120 to 200 rpm

???-----likely it says ----X 1000-----Somewhere on the tachometer.

Like racer said 2rpm's =2000
That could be: the stator, the fuel pumps or something in the fuel system,
Oil system shutting it down. ??
