Ok, I did a Magneto "tune up" on my 1962 40 HP "Johnson" and showed spark in BOTH cylindars with my "test light" but I can't get SPARK PLUG to spark? I moved the coils closer to the flywheel/magnets, and that didn't change anything? I did replace the coils, points, condensor, etc... I have disconnected the "kill switch" wires and they are not even hooked up? I thought maybe they were maybe keeping the signal strong? I am at a loss? I never knew that the AMOUNT of spark would make "that" much diff whether or not your plugs will FIRE or not???? HELP!!!!!

Re: Not enough current to make spark plug "Spark" weak magnito current??

Found the problem. When I installed the new points my hands had enough dirt/oil on them to make the spark weak. The mechanic cleanded them with contact cleaner and my boat fired right up! All from "dirty" brand new points. But enough to make the signal too weak to make the plugs fire. I learned that one the HARD (expensive way). 2.00 can of cleaner would have fixed my problem. UGH!!
