I have a 1989 pontoon with a OMC 3.0 motor (not factory but whoever did the install did a nice job!). I believe the motor is also a 1989 but here is the deal, the starter went out and so I pulled it off and the number on it says Delco Remy 1998562. I cannot find a marine starter that cross references to this number. Can someone please tell me what starter i need. The one I have is a long bolt/short bolt and has 9 teeth. I'm not sure how interchangeable these things are. Thank you.

Ayuh,... Chevy starters only come in 2 flavors,...
Straight across bolts, 'n the Staggered bolt pattern...

Replace your's with whichever bolt pattern you have now....

Thank you. I ordered it today...I always knew chevy/GM parts were very interchangable and this seems to also apply to their marine blocks as well. As far as having the old one rebuilt, someone apparently put a truck starter on it and I didnt wan't to cut corners on something that might blow everything apart :)
