Well I brought another boat home..... I won't say what number this one makes. I got it really for the Motor for the 21' Starcraft Mariner. I wanted to really get the Mariner up to at least max HP with trim and tilt and I did with this purchase. Now the Motor cranked and seemed to run just fine on the muffs as most usually do.:p But the only real way to know whats happening with an Outboard is to take them for a lake spin or at least a compression test. I did the compression test back a few months ago when I first looked at this motor and found one cylinder to have 0 compression. I walked away telling the owner I would have to think about it and he did drop the price some. Then I found he had re posted it later with another price drop and I went back and talked to him again, got him even lower. but that was with me just removing the motor and bringing it home without the boat and trailer. Needless to say I ended up settling for just a couple more dollars and bringing the whole thing home. The motor seems to be in just fine shape other than needing a new piston and rings.:( Oh some pics are in my photos link below I will take better pics when all this rain goes away.

Thanks Kev, Yea the cylinders on that side seem to be fine.(smooth as a Babies behind) Now I am not sure if I want to tackle the job myself or take it to a mechanic and let him do it right being a 79 model motor probably wouldn't hurt for piece of mind to have it done up right the first time. Make it like new so to speak. As far as the boat I haven't really looked at it. It might be worth fixing just won't know till I do an assessment.

Jim you could always bring that bass rig to tinstock to use as a beater boat for the weekend...and then have a free raffle so a lucky person gets to tow it home:)

Good luck getting her rebuilt, should be a great OB for your Mariner:D

I bet the High Point Marina would have something to say about that....Or the State of Verginy. Now we could all go to Clays farm and do it there.:D
