I have a 1987 Baylinner with an OMC cobra out drive. When I start to go straight there is no noise but as I turn to the left or the right I here a noise like something is grinding. I was told it could be my gimble bearing. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Sounds like gimble bearing or most likely u-joints because when you turn you put more stress on the u-joints. When was the last time you had the drive off? Ernie

Howdy,

It could be your gimbal bearing, the input bearing, the U-joints or a combination of 2 or all three....

You need to stop running and remove the drive to inspect.

If you continue running it and a U-joint breaks, the damage may (and probably WILL) be exten$ive (and expen$ive)

Rick
