I have a 1990 Evinrude XP 150. E150STLESB Starts and runs good. My question is, dose a crossfire engine sound different than other engines? Mine sounds fine while taking off,but when I reach cruising speed,or start to let off the throttle it makes a whole different sound. There is no insulation inside the cowling. Should I be worried about this? Thanks in advance.

A whole different sound? Wait...let me listen for a minute. Nope. Can't hear it. Can you try to describe that sound for us. How is it different? We can't hear your outboard, so you'll have to give a good description.

Re: noisey engine

Sorry about my description. When I take off and the engine is pulling everything sounds tight, but when I reach cruising speed it seems to have a ticking sound. I was told that a crossflow engine would have a diferent sound.
