Noticed a thumping noise in bravo 2 when making sharp left or right turns at low speeds. Had new gimbal bearing installed last year as well as shift cable. I'm thinking it's the u joint assembly? 95 rinker 265 fiesta vee. Has 350 chevy that has 40 hours on it. The outdrive fluid is full and changed every year. Prop is brand new last year. And ideas from you guys would be great.

U-joints . . . they will 'growl' when running above idle speed and the outdrive is turned sharply or raised to the trailer position. Just try to avoid doing that, and make sure to grease them good on an annual basis.

Thanks ted. Should I pull the drive and take it in or just take the whole boat over to the shop?

It cost less if you pull the drive then have the shop do it. Pull the drive and check the U joints for play before you take it. You might get it off and find that its not the U joints but something else, but probably is.

Since the gimbal was just replaced lets hope it was installed correctly

If you are going to pull the outdrive yourself, I would not go to the trouble/expense of having a shop grease the u-joints (bearings). Easily a DIY step once the outdrive is removed.
