Noise from outdrive/motor

When out for the first time last sunday. Drove the boat at 20 mph for about half an hour. When we came in at idle the motor/ outdrive was making a noise. I dont know how to describe this noise but it would go away if you actuated the trim switch ever so slighty. The noise would then come back in about 3 seconds after actuating the trim switch.


1988 3.7 litre mercruiser/alpha 1

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Pull the outdrive. Bet money on water in the bellows and rusty gimbal bearing and dead ujoints.
