78 25hp Evinrude. I use the standard flush attatchment (fits over the gauze intake behind the prop but when I run the engine I din't get any water through the pisser.. If I place the hose over the side intake... no worries... I have had a few Johnson/Evinrude engines over the years and have never had a problem with the bottom intake.. what am I doing wrong?????

kiwi...if the engine is not overheating, the tell tale hole is probably plugged up. Try a piece of wire up the hole or take the plastic piece off the tell tale hose and let it flush out real good.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. I've never seen a motor with both side intakes and a rear/under intake.

the gauze underneath at the prop is the OUTLET

the one above the plate is your intake

Thanks for the learning curve on the outlet. so when the flusher is attatched to the "outlet" it shall we say... back washers... !

Kiwiguy
The holes above the cavatation plate are water output. The holes below the cavatation plate but above the prop shaft with a screen is water intake. Water intake has a screen so you do not suck up anything into the motor. Water output has no screen.

Boatist is correct. Flush using the screened "intake" holes that are located below the cavitation plate. Here is a pic that shows some gizmo hooked up to the intake flushing ports. Yours should be in a similar location (dont worry about the gizmo, just found the pic for location purposes). Good luck :D

Hey beaux , That looks like a flushing solution dispenser on that flush muff.I was wondering if there was something like that on the market for an occasional vinegar flush since I use mine strictly in saltwater.MikeyLikey. :) Who sells em?

OB-
got it off a search for flushing outboards. I know nothing about the product itself but here is the website if your interested. Making it looks pretty simple. Simply rigging one to a motor flusher using connectors from your local hardware store and using a yard sprayer connected to your hose as your mixer. That would be much cheaper IMO. Good luck :D
Outboard flusher/internal rinse with solvents
