Re: No water getting to motor in 3.0 OMC!!!
Im going through a cooling issue right now.
First, there are two water pumps. the impeller which is under the cover on the upper unit. The other is the water pump on the front of the engine (automotive like).
You will first need to find out if your getting water thru the impeller. Remove the cover from the upper unit and the remove the impeller housing as well as the impeller. This is an easy thing to do and you can inspect some very important parts at the same time. Put the muffs on and turn on the hose. If you get water coming out the right side, you should be good.
Next remove the hose from the thermostat housing and feed water into it. If you see water coming out the left side of the upper unit, you should be good. (impeller is #'s 23, 24, 25, 26, 30)

Next you can figure out if the impeller is working.
Youll need to reassemble everything and head out to the water. Start the engine and remove the hose from the thermostat. Find out if you are you getting a stream of water.
That should get you started, and may I suggest, get yourself an OMC manual. Everything you need is in there if your going to work on the boat yourself. This is as important as your wrenches.
Good luck
