No water, exhaust relief port

1992 Johnson 15hp (J15REN)

I think it's the relief port. It's a short tube on the rear starboard side of the engine. I hooked up ear muffs and started. No water came out. With our Seadoo's, water comes out right away. Does it have to be under load first? Or is it likely I have an issue?

If you're speaking of the water pump indicator tube---yes, there should be water coming out of it fairly quickly. However, dirt daubers love to build mud nests up in there. You may just have a stopped up tube. Run a piece of weed eater string through it and try again.

I think it is the water pump indicator tube and you were right - damn insects! Thanks! I'm getting water now.
