As some of you might remember I am the one that had the electrical short on one of my 1994 Evinrude 200s. Once I got that fixed then I had a power problem where I couldn't get any top end. And then after swaping powerpacks the other motor started acting the same way. I got the motors running smooth but still can't get max rpms out of them. In neutral they will rev till the tach needle is burried. When I put one motor in gear at a time I can only get 3000 rpms at WOT, when I put them both in gear at WOT the boat will plain out and the motors will get up to 3800 rpms. I have since put a new powerpack on the engine that went crazy second with no change in performance. The boat is a 1994 Scarab Sport 302 and before all this happened the motors would reach 5500 rpms almost instantly, I did not change props, and there is no added weight, in fact there is less weight because I burned through a lot of fuel while working on it. Had a mechanic check the carbs, timing, linkage, carb plates and spark, all checked out perfect, although you can't check the spark at WOT, the mechanic is stumped also. Could there be a weak coil on each engine? Or a couple of bad plug wires? Why would it run so smooth and still have no top end? Any input would help alot.

Thanks,
Chris
