No Title, No Manufacturers certificate, No Registration???

No Title, No Maunufacturers Certificate, and No registration. The trailer was never registered to any owner and yet its a 1998... This was confirmed with the Illinois DMV and local police. Does anyone know how to get this thing titled and registered? I do now have the VIN # but cant do anything with it. I bought the boat and got the trailer free

Grind a little, paint a little and apply for a title for a homebuilt trailer.

If the trailer came from another state, it may not have ever had to be registered or have a title, here in KY, if its under 20' you don't have title, registration, or tags.

Illinois has made it very hard to do the home made thing. If it's a very good trailer? You can buy a crappy trailer with a title scrap the crappy trailer and use the title for the good trailer.

I have to go through some kind of BONDING process here in Illinois which Im still researching and im looking at the option of buying a crappy trailer and register it using that title as long as I cut up the crappy trailer. Is that legal though?

NOPE! but you do what you have to do. Just be sure to stamp the VIN numbers onto your good trailer.

here in the KY, i bought a trailer with no title, no registration, no VIN, and 20+ feet. i didn't want to get hassled out of state, so i had the guy i bought it from write me a bill of sale in which he said it was homemade. $30 and a month later, the capital sends me a VIN plate to attatch to my trailer.

it sucks, b/c now i have to pay $12 a year for registration versus nothing and just running with it, but i do have some peace of mind.
