I’m having a problem with my 2013 30hp 4 stroke efi mercury outboard. It runs and start’s perfect on short trips. If I take a longer trip say “1hour” then let it sit for a few minutes it turns over but does not run. It’s almost like it’s flooded. When I go out the next morning it starts up perfectly and runs great. The outboard is pumping water and I have changed the fuel line, bulb and first fuel filter. Any suggestions would be appreciated

My guess is Vapor lock or a bad ignition component.

I ran my motor for an hour a couple of times today without the cowling on. I had no problems with restarting the motor. It seams like i’m dealing with a heat issue. The water being pumped from the motor was warmish but not hot. Possible the temperature Sensor is acting up?

Normally there is an over temp alarm associated with it

When was the last time you changed the impeller?

Try starting it warm in neutral with full throttle. Be quick and shift it back to normal throttle, if it starts.

Mine is a 2 stroke, but when I have flooded it you have a specific way to start it. Fast Idle ALL the way up, suppose to tell them engine no more gas till it starts (apparently). This has worked for me each and every time I've used it. Could try that. I had a similar issue with my old Yamaha. It would run a ton better with the lid off. turned out to be a bad cylinder hence why I got the mercury now!
