OK, here's the problem. boat ran well on the trailer just before winterizing it. Today I reinstalled batt. properly, red firsts then black, having burnt out a fuse doing it wrong once, dashboard powers up fine, bilge pump and blower both work, but not even a click when I turn to start. Where should I look 1st? It is a bayliner Capre, 2000, i/o merc alpha 1. any help would be appreciated. Larry

Re: No start after winter.

Did that reverse installation of the battery happened just before this no-start? If so, any other thing could have been blown!
If not, then you can do some basic troubleshooting. Get hold of the wiring diagram and start chasing with a multimeter voltages. To begin with, see if you get 12V at the starter solenoid, and if you get 12V at the solenoid control pin (from the starter key) when you turn the key. If any of the voltages are missing keep following the connections and components back to the battery.

Good luck, Peter
