2005 merc 9.9 4 stroke. Did a carb job and put it back on but won't start. When I had it opened, the main jet was real stuck, tried soaked it in soapy water, then tap on it , won't budge, so I just sprayed carb cleaner into it , same thing for the idle jet.

Planning on redoing it but what is a good way to get the jets out w/o damages?
Also, the joint in the arrow below is leaking fuel after the cleaning, what's the fix? Should I diy a paper gasket?

Get a rebuild kit and do it the correct way, the kit will have all new gaskets. Soap and water wont help, soak in penetrating oil and carb cleaner, even acetone might help disolve the varnish and gum. Just cleaning rarely works
