Re: no spark

A peak reading volt meter would be nice to have. Maybe we can eliminate a couple things for ya. '77 70hp....

Lost spark to all plugs.....well...the timer base has three little coils in it to fire the individual cylinders. I could see one going out but all three at the same time....long shot.

Three ignition coils....same here.

That leaves the charge coil, under the flywheel in the stator and the power pack.

The output of the charge coil, if I remember, should be in the 150 to 200v range. If you have this and still no spark, the pack is at fault.

FYI...the output of the sensor coils should read between 1 and 5v's.

If ya' don't have one, a service manual would be a big help. You can get a generic here at Iboats or contact Ken Cook Co. for a reprint of the original.

Hope we've help a little and keep us posted.

Re: no spark

Remove the "Black/Yellow" wire from either the powerpack or from the ignition switch (whichever is easier). If you now have spark, replace the ignition switch.
