hello , I have a 1994 50hp merc 3cyl. I'm getting no spark. It shut off at the boat ramp after a day of use and would not start back up. I came home and the boat sat for about two weeks before I tried to work on it. Low and behold it started. Never got the chance to use it again so a month later I was packing it up for the winter and it wouldn't start again. I just uncovered it for this year and still no spark. Any ideas on what I can check with a volt meter ? I've been told the trigger can be a problem but I would really like to test some wires before I disturb anything in the engine compartment. Thank you

you can go to the CDI electronics website....lots of very good info on what to try first...second..etc. That is what i just used and i am up in business again. First thing to check is batt. terminals ...grounds...all the simple things first. You would not believe how many times the simple things can make things go awray. Hope this helps. When you get further into it..chime back in for more help. This is a great site to get help working through things. I just solved my issues thanks to this site so im jumping in to help others. When you get into the CDI site you then have to find trouble shooting for your 3cyl engine as the proceedures change with # of cyl. etc.
