I know what I'm doing.
I'm the most prepared person in the world.
Prep at home, final check at the waterside. back down the ramp unhook, reverse, done.

This time though, big problem, put it in reverse, lot's of noise, no movement.
Wait, think, try again.
Drive must be broken.
Prop is Not working?
Gearbox knackered.
Try again.
Matey on the ramp says try forward gear then reverse.
Nothing.
(you know where I'm going with this don't you)
Reall unhappy now. Day is gonna be ruined and costly.
Jump in the car an pull the boat out as there are people waiting. (and watching)

Take the STERN STRAPS OFF AND TRY AGAIN!!!!!!

Should have realised as the car was rocking as I tried!
Funny how all reasoning goes out off the window when you are stressed.
Prop not working??????

Re: No Reverse on the Ramp!!

You were correct in the first place. The prop wasn't working... Prop and motor combo aren't big enough to work against the weight of the boat, trailer, and tow vehicle.

We're never to experienced for a new experience.;)

So it cost you little to nothing for the extra gas burned, maybe a couple sore spots on your scalp from scratching your head, a sore throat from swallowing your pride...

So you (maybe) shoved off from the dock with "your tail between your legs".

I bet it didn't take long at all for you to be smiling big and wide being on the water without costly repair and having a good reason to laugh a little.:D

Glad it was nothing more than what it was.:)

And don't worry about the folks looking to get in or out. Every single one of them has had a "moment" when it comes to launching or retrieving. I've been boating for years and just the other day forgot to loosen my winch strap. Backed her all the way into the drink only to realize the boat was floating, yet still attached. (don't worry, no one was watching, lol)

When I said go ahead and release boat, I didn't mean boat and trailer!

So you (maybe) shoved off from the dock with "your tail between your legs".

You're absolutely right, it was great to power off into the wide open sea with my wallet intact but my tail firmly between my legs.
I couldn't get out of there quick enough and kept cringing when I thought about it.
So you can imagine how I felt when I returned and my car was blocked in!!

Padlocks are fantastic tools for revenge!
