I have a 80's something Caulkins bunk trailer. The trailer has a front cross member with rollers for the bow. The axle assembley also has brackets and rollers to support the boat. The rear most bracket on the axle cross member is more than 44 inches forward from the back of the trailer. This means that there is no other support for the aft bottom of the boat for 44 inches other than the bunks the boat sits on. The boat is 21 - 22 feet.
With all the weight at the back of the boat, is it normal that there is no other support? All of todays trailers have a rear cross rail (transom frame??) with rollers which can also be used as a mount for an outdrive support bracket.
I have checked with places like Champion's for a rear frame kit but no luck.
Caulkins is no longer.
Any ideas on who deals in or makes galvinized trailer frames / kits?
