Well after my first outing with my new old boat I was pleased. My water temp was great but I wanted to prepare for some "bigger waters" and figured I should change the impellar. Hey no problem I have done impellars before.

What a pain in the butt! I bet I installed the lower unit at least a dozen times trying to cure a shifting problem. I never encountered one that was like this.

Well fellow boaters you will be proud! Duct Tape finds yet another use. I was having problems aligning the shift mechanism. It kept turning and things were just not going together smoothly.
The problem was the shift linkage bushing needed to be held in place (discovered on frustrating attempt 10 or 11!!). I used a small piece of duct tape to keep the shift linkage in the proper alingment in the slot.

Frustrating you bet ! I kind of felt like a puppy with a football . Hey, it's done and now onto attacking the electrical gremlins and the interior.

Bob

and yes, I had the manual on hand and used it
