Hi
I have been here several times asking for help and now i need you pros help again, I have a 1960 5.5 Johnson
got the carb adjusted in neutral runs awesome but as soon as i put it in gear it stalls out i have adjusted needle valves as directed here and still nothing.
Could it be i need to replace the needle valves low and high or do i buy another carb i have rebuilt it with a new kit already.
It was working OK at one time.

Sounds like the idle RPM is set too low. Also, Have you done a link and sync on the carb / timing linkage?

Could be the slip clutch in the lower unit binding.----Post compression test values.---Does spark actually jump a gap of 1/4" or more.---Reporting that you have " good spark " is not the same as spark jumping a 1/4" gap.
