I have a 2006 Bayliner 205. Just got out of storage where it was winterized and store through winter months. Tried to start it but no power to the ignition. Purchased a new battery; still no power. Please help!!

I'm assuming it ran when you put it away? Going to have to start cleaning possible corroded connections on the starter or ignition switch.

Yep, clean EVERY connection to include all the ends of the fuses too. If you encounter a copper wire that has turned black or green you need to pay special attention and try to clean it.

When we say ALL electrical ....... that includes starter motor too...... Make sure your battery is NOT connected when you do this maintenance. I usually use a piece of sand paper (I have been known to steal my wife's emery boards from her nail care stash since it is sand paper mounted on a convenient stick ;))

1) Check the big circuit breaker on the side of the engine to see if it tripped.
2) If you previously disconnected the battery then make sure that you actually put the wires back on the right terminals and didn't forget one. On my 2005 there was a black jacketed wire that actually belonged on the positive terminal - screwed me up a couple times.

If it cranks over but does not start then maybe it has a safety lanyard and it is not plugged in...?

Shifter in neutral? Does it act different in throttle only mode?

Thank you, I will try this. So new to this and frustrated. Thanks for your help.

No power at all, no matter what I try.

Re: No power to Bayliner

OK, so whats not connected? battery cable ends clean and bright especially the one that connects to the block.
do you know how to jump the starter to make it spin? jump from the main battery cable to the small stud closest to the motor.
starter must operate.
Locate the "slave solenoid" , jump the 2 large lugs , starter should operate,
Report your findings

Who winterized it? If had a shop do it for you, making a phone call may be the easiest thing, Maybe they did something to it.

Re: No power to Bayliner

Take a test light and hook it to the engine block. Then touch the positive terminal of the battery (this verifies the negative cables)... Then touch the test light to the big terminal on the starter-motor. If you have power there, check both sides of the circuit breaker. If you still have power, turn the key to ON and touch the + terminal of the coil... Report back here the findings.

Re: No power to Bayliner

Had a similar thing on my 205 after lay up.
was the sensor under the ignition cap so now carry a spare.
run through the thunderbolt v test procedure thats in the stickies
roughly remove lead from centre of dizzy cap
disconnect green white wire from sensor
hold ht lead close to a good ground but not touching then
rapldly 3 Times a second strike green white wire against a ground
with ignition on of course you should see a spark on the ht lead or sensor may be faulty.
