no oil alarms

been having some difficulties with my motor a 2000 90 hp johnson , dosent idle when warm and has a hard time to start after i shut it down for five minutes , so i did some inspecting around the motor and i found a wire that was frayed, purple wire that goes to the vro pump , so i spliced it back together figuring i mabey fixed the issues i had previous , so i took the boat out today, while at the dock i let it warm up for a couple miutes the no oil alarm came on with one solid tone for a couple seconds , i shut the motor off, started motor up alarm shut off , whent thru a no wake zone for 10 minutes and alarm went off with a long tone then tone shut of and no oil light stayed on , same thing shut off motor . motor is running great for 20 minutes then stalls on me at 3000 rpms , starts right back up let the motor rest for a while , now motor starts making noise like its in slow mode cant get up on plane had to limp back to ramp , i need some help this motor is driving me nuts , thanks,,,, forgot to mention the impeller was changed this past fall and pee stream is great not hot .

Sounds like you have a no oil prob here, may be a bad vro. On this mtr the no oil will not put it into slow. Only an overheat will do that. You may have some other ignition probs along with the no oil probs.
