i know nothing about PWC's. My nephew is wanting one. he wants to ride atleast himself and girl friend, tube, will be used in fresh and salt water. Friend said ,Yamaha is the best for maintainance(thats Me). wants to go the inexpensive route, i laughed and said it was a boat. i'm good with OB's, need as much advise, as i can get. on this subject. years to stay away from, suggest engine size. etc. thanks in advance

they all have their issues, but I would stay away from polaris and tigershark since they don't make them any more,
to carry passengers a 3 seater is a lot easier, 2 seat skies are quite unstable with 2 on them.
For towing tubes etc 3 seaters are better, as some states prohibit towing with a 2 seater.
You want a 700cc engine or larger.
no matter what you get plan on working on it sooner or later so buy a repair manual .
