Re: No matter how hard I stare at the weekend forecast, the temps won't go up

This is the time of the year I hate. We will get a day or two in the low 60s then it drops to the 40s during the day and high 20s at night. St Patrics day is when my boating season starts. Won't be able to swim but the cruises can start! Already have dock space booked for an over night in Wilmington. This time is best spent reserving dock space and day dreaming about what you are going to do this season.

I think it would be interesting to see if during peak boating season if posts on this site go up or down? I would think down because I have had something like 100+ posts in the past month because I pushed the boat out of my head for as long as I could.

I hate watching these great daytime forecasts knowing there's a cold snap coming.

I gave in and am buying a bilge heater. Much simpler than draining. It's probably overkill around here it's still worth the peace of mind.

Guess it kinda depends on what kind of boating you do. Mostly, I fish and I find the fish don't care about the temp if I don't. My boat has full canvas so I can sit inside with Mr Heater while trolling along. Fish or no, I'm out there as long as I don't have to chain up the trailer and the ramps are open. I've had that problem and the cure was to look at the long term forecast as a chart. (Oh, and do this while you are standing on your head)

I got lucky and it's gonna be in the upper 80's this weekend here in Cali so it's a perfect time to try out the new boat.

I too feel your pain. We had a record setting month here in middle Georgia for rain. And now that the rain has finally stopped, it is turning cold with highs in the upper 30's to very low 40's predicted for the next few days to a week. And I have so many things waiting on nice weather to start with the painting... Nice sunny days now but too cold to paint...

Here in SE Wisconsin it's been snowing off and on for 5 days and I can't remember what the sun looks like.

Febuary, the longest 28 days of the year!

It's even gonna be quite chilly here in Tampa. Spring is on the way!

I did just trim down my beard in anticipation and to maybe help prod it along.

Re: No matter how hard I stare at the weekend forecast, the temps won't go up

I have the first fishing trip penciled in for the 16th, weather permitting of coarse.

I have a full camper top and heater for the boat so it would have to be pretty cold to chase me off this one, haven't been out since Oct of last year, something with a motorcycle, a deer and a broken arm, hard to fish with one arm.

Normally here in Northern Indiana we have to wait for the launches to clear of ice but again this year there isn't any, I think the river froze edge to edge maybe twice for 3 days total so that is cool.

Going out here in a minute to put a new live well in the boat, finally got around to building a new one, looking forward to crawling around under the deck.

I just have to laugh because I feel the same way. We were in the 70' s and 80' s in January and now we're only going to hit 50 today if we're lucky. I'm tempted to go get the boat from storage and bring her home to play with, clean, etc..

Come spring! :)
