After really enjoying the summer with my boat I wanted to find something to do during the winter, so I got into cross country skiing. I rented some for a weekend, tried it with the g/f and we both ended up buying some.

I noticed there is not really any good forums for Cross Country Skiing as there is for boating like iboats. So all I can do right now is ask my most likely annoyed co-worker a billion questions about skiing. To bad there aren't "search features" in real life like there is in forums.

I got some skiis last week and I was excited to get onto the trails after record snow fall last month...but of course we also had unusually warm weather (mid 40's) this weekend so it melted all the snow :( What are the chances?

I did do Google searches for sites, what I am saying I can't find the iboats of cross country skiing forum. Most of them had very little posts, etc.

that's because most CC skiers are out skiing! CC skiing is one sport that you either love and do regularly, or you don't. I had a set of CC skis for a while ... snow was never "right" or time was never "right" or ... just never really got into it. Enjoyed it, but it was too much work if everything wasn't just "right." Sold my skiis years ago.

+1 with Art. I'm of the opinion more people own CC skis that don't get used than do.

My family CC skies. Do we get out as much as we should, no. But when we are out it's great exercise. You work a bunch of muscles and it's great for your cardio system.

I bought my wife snowshoes for Christmas. With those, you can just walk out your back door. We have 20 acres she tromps around on. I need to get on them and step away from the computer!

try the address I posted above.... it is a website for a club here in western Newfoundland with links to information and photos. I agree that it`s a great winter pastime and doesn`t cost too much. Only problem here is it`s the lousiest winter in about 40 years.
