I just purchased a 1976 75hp. Johnson and was having bogging problems after warm up,checked out coils and have no voltage to the wire that hooks to the power pack after it warms up any ideas

Could be a bad coil (shorting when it gets hot), bad power pack, bad timer base, or possibly some obscure problem I haven't mentioned. See if you can find a factory service manual for your engine, that will have tests to walk through and determine what's bad.

After warm up I still get spark to plugs 1 and 2 and still runs just bogs under load, but no spark and no voltage to 3 and also no voltage at the power pack where the number 3 coil hooks into . Wouldnt that mean that the timer base is still good ?

Not necessarily. The timer base has a seperate sensor for each cylinder, and has a signal wire going to the power pack for each cylinder. If you can track down those wires you can check the peak voltage reading (you did say you're using a DVA adapter, right?) from each to see if they're all approximately the same.

You could also try swapping the timer base wires on the pack to see where the prob goes. Also the wires that come from the pack to the coils.

Re: No DVA voltage to number 3 coil after warm up

Ok I have some readings using the DVA and all readings are on the 20 setting with the probes on the power pack terminals
coil-1 (6)
coil-2 (6)
coil-3 (0)
Brown wire (1.5)
Brown orange (4)
black/yellow (0)
Sensor-1 (3.5)
Sensor-2 (3.5)
Sensor-3 (2)
black/white (6)
black (2.5)
Also just to check I unhooked the number 3 coil wire from power pack and touched it to the number 2 coil terminal and heard the motor change so I could verify that coil was in worknig condition..hope this will shed some light on my situtation...

I disconnected coil wire from powerpack to make sure there was no short and still no voltage at power pack

Re: No DVA voltage to number 3 coil after warm up

I tried to get my motor to drop voltage today in a test tank while looking at the guide and for the life of me I couldnt get it to do it but my luck as soon as I take it out again it will cut up
