no coil fire

i have a 2000 model 40 hp 2 stroke mecury with no coil fire i undid the main harness from the front and still no fire i unplugged the kill wire to the coils and it started i then connected that wire back to get the water muffs on it and had no fire since i have 200 v+ coming from the stator to the coils i tried checking trigger coils i have no voltage from black to white or black to grey im at a loss and any help is appreciated

Well, it sounds like the black/yellow wire is grounded somewhere on the motor, if I understood you correctly. Trace that wire and see where it goes. Do you have a mercury switch? They can go bad.

. If this is the case of a bad ground. Then when I Disconnect the black /yellow from the coils and /or the rev limiter and unplug the main harness on the motor and jump across the solenoid should I not have fire then? I have none

I would leave everything connected, except disconnect the black/yellow wire from the switchbox. If you have spark then, the black/yellow wire is grounded somewhere, it shouldn't be. That is what I had thought you said in your first post.

Switch box or rev limiter? I have a small box above the voltage reg with 4 wires coming out. Black with yellow stripe. White which connects to the white wire from trigger coil. Purple which runs into main harness and brown which does the same. This motor does not have the 15 wire switch box which is shown in the schematic from the mercury Manuel.

OK, That motor has CDM ignition. So no switchbox. Disconnect the black/yellow wire from the CDM modules and see if spark returns. If so, trace that wire to see where ground is being applied.

Still no spark. Tried unplugging from coils then from the rev limiter. Still no spark

Well, time to run the CDIElectronics ign test for that system. Hopefully it can isolate it to stator or CDM Modules or whatever.
