a few weeks ago I bought a new leftover 2000 model BF15 from a honda dealer. I noticed the parts bag had been opened and sure enough acording to my owners manual it was suppost to have a flush kit supplied...I called the dealer and they were rude and said it did not come with the flush kit <br />I wrote honda (since you cannot call 1 800 or email)and they also said it did not come with the flush kit. So I wrote again and this time I sent them a scan of the page in my owners manual showing the flush kit as a supplied part....now honda will not write back they just ignore me..I have never felt so alone on a purchase both the dealer and honda don,t care.I know the flush kit is a small item but if they act this way about something this trivial what would happen if you had a warrenty claim !...wish I had bought a mercury or yamaha...

Wow, that sucks. Wish the Honda rep up here in Canada could do you any good. when I had a 'concern' with my new outboard, I called them up and explained my situation and asked what to do. He asked me for the name and number of my favourite marine mechanic and said he would call me back. Ten minutes later he did and explained he had talked to my mechaninc and stated I could bring the boat up there anytime and tell them the symptoms and the two of them would take care of the rest! And thats exactly what they did. They did a thourough check of the motor (found nothing wrong - the fault was my own), and also did a water test where the mechanic went out on the water with me so that i could show him what i was hearing that i thought was wrong. he also varied the height of the motor to different positions ( meant bringing the boat out of the water and back 3 times)just so we could find the best position for performance. The bill all went to Honda and a week later the rep called me back to see if my concerns were addressed and if there was anything else he could do for me. Needless to say, I was impressed.

I have a flush kit for my 15 honda but have never used in all the years I have had to motor. Just too much hassle and I have to put the ears on the merc 200 anyway. Enjoy your motor, they run trouble free for years.

I know how you feel when you think that you got the shaft. Everyone has been in that boat at one time or the other. If the Company has independently said that the kit is not part of the purchase, I'd just accept it as true. As gss says, he's never used it and I never have either. Of course, I never had one but the ears are so easy I can't imagine doing anything else. There is no excuse for any rudeness from a dealer at any time and I would feel just as you do. On the bright side, you have a wonderful piece of machinery and with adequet care will have it for as long as you want. Try not to let the poor behavior of others ruin the experience of owning such a good motor. Have fun. Granpa
