Nissan, unused for 5 years

Hi. I have an 80's Nissan 5hp motor. Fresh water motor. It's sat in the garage for 5+ years. I'd like to use it again, but what should I do, first? I'll have to replace the bottom grease, and likely the impeller. The bigger problem was some odd 'corrosion' in the carb. (minor whitish buildup). The choke doesn't move, and the engine doesn't turn. I didn't try forcing it. I have no idea if the fuel was drained the last time I used it, so the carb may have to be rebuilt.
Is it safe to just pull the spark plug, and spray penetrating oil in the cylinder, and wait for its magic? Might the rings have damaged the cylinder walls? (tell me no, so I won't have to pull the head - and get another gasket set...)
What else is recommended? It's a nice little motor. And I don't want to damage it!
I didn't know it would go unused all that time. Should I have sprayed some oil in the cylinder, back when?
Thanks

Welcome to Iboats,

Must :

-Remove old fuel from internal fuel tank if counts with one.
-Remove fuel **** and clean small mesh filter located at upper ****.
:Remove and clean fuel from portable tank if counting with one.
-Clean fuel filter adjacent to carb.
-Disassemble carb, clean all fuel/oil leftovers with generic carn spray. If heavily dirty or stuck soak in carb dip.
-Check impeller condition, change if dried, cracked, lube drive shaft upper splines.
-Remove prop grease drive shaft splines.
-Remove plugs, pivot engine fully upwards, spray an overdose or Engine Tuner (carbon remover) inside cylinder, let soak for 1 hour, turn flywheel back and forth till piston/ring is freed from cylinder.
-Change lower unit gear oil.
-Change plug.
-Test with fresh high octane fuel.

Thanks Admiral. This is the exact list I needed.
I live on a small suburban lake. My trolling motor died. With the cost of replacing it, I may just use the Nissan. It's lighter than the motor and battery.

You are welcome Cadet, once working as a champ will enjoy a gas engine more than an electric one including having more autonomy to have fun with.

An addendum - I had a goose on the lake with fishing line around its leg. I chased it down yesterday, and just as it was finally giving up, with the net in my hand... the motor burned up! I borrowed a motor from a stranger, via the suburb's FB page. It took nearly the whole charge to wear the poor bird down again (20= min?).. I'm on HIS **** list forever! But I got him, and had enough juice to get back. (I didn't take a paddle the first time. Guess how well a fish net works as a paddle? But it did work. I'm sure it was comical to watch! 'hey - look at the moron in the boat!'). I guess I am a cadet!
The goose had no obvious problem. I'll keep him penned up for a few days, and talk to a vet.
