Nissan troubles

I got lost on a foggy night on the AR River and ran out of gas. I've put new gas in, but it still acts like it's out of gas. If I try, I can get it to run with the fast idle up, but just barely. Did the oil gum it up and foul the plugs, or is it something even worse. I'm not very mechanical, so if you have any suggestions... Thanks. Oh, it's a 50 HP OB, 2003.

It's not an oil issue. You most likely sucked some trash from the bottom of your tank into the carbs. But, your first step is to troubleshoot the engine and determine which system has the problem.
