Hi - I'm looking for options. I just bought a sailboat with a Nissan NS8A outboard that is in great shape and runs very well, BUT the water pump impeller has a crack in it and already shows about 30-50% reduced water flow. A marine mechanic said the part is no longer in stock or made and that they couldn't find one anywhere.

I've searched the internet but with no luck. I've seen a reference to a new impeller being machined out of different impeller. Looking for someone who has the skills to fashion one, or has source for a NOS one.

Model: NS8-A
Serial #: MSA-1 62572
Impeller Part #: 337-65021-0

Anyone have any solutions!?

Thanks

Derek

Are you subtly telling me to google the part number? I did and there are no answers there unfortunately for me.

That's your impeller! Is that subtle enough? Google does work, you know - It's amazing.

Welcome aboard.

I don't think that's it. That's a replacement for the Nissan NS8-B or part number 334-65021-0, not 337-65021-0. Is there something you're seeing that says it will work? I've read in more than one place the impeller on the "B" is not the same as on the older "A"

That's another 334-65021-0, which is the B again. I need the "337"-65021-0.

Thanks pvanv for trying/looking. I called the number on that site yesterday and that business and number are no longer valid. The guy who answered the phone said that business never took down their website and he occassionally gets calls from people who found the site.

Throwing out a thought;

It seems the difference in the impellers is the "B" impeller is taller and some have cut down a "B" impeller to fit an "A" pump body. Does a "B" upper pump body fit an "A" lower unit? Is the driveshaft the same diameter and the pump mounting the same on both "A" and "B" lowers?

Good or bad idea pvanv ? Or anyone else?

Good question. Perhaps changing out the whole upper housing and cup might work. I have no hands-on with the old A models, so YMMV.
