Nissan NS70A trim sensor

I have had a Nissan NS70A that I bought used for four years. It has worked excellent. This year the trim meter stopped working. I traced the wired from the trim sensor up to the meter but this didn't give me much to test.
I'm wonder what specific steps I can take to identify the broken part.
