Nissan NS60A gear shift problem

Motor dates from about 1992. Will not go into neutral or reverse. My Nissan service manual for this model doesn't show connection between the linkage rods (under motor cover) and the clutch and/or gears in lower unit. Will I have to get into lower unit? Also, what is the name for the black plastic connectors (internally threaded for linkage rod at one end, donut-holed at the other to slide over throttle/gear-shift device post)? I broke one on the water trying to get into reverse, but a temporary fix with super-glue shows that the problem is in the mechanism. Where can I buy these plastic couplers?

You can buy the connectors from any Nissan or Tohatsu dealer.
