1. Can someone tell me how many turns from a fully closed position to set my carberator fuel screw?
2. Also can someone tell me what the torque setting are for the motor base screws IT HAS A "7" on the top of the screw heads. I replaced the base gasket but need torque FT/LBS for reinstalling screws.. Thanks:rolleyes:

Re: NISSAN NS5B Carb and screw question!!

1. No. Every motor is unique. That's why the pilot screw is there. After a complete, thorough, and proper carb cleaning, the initial pilot screw setting would be about 1-3/4 turns out. Then adjust (as per the Factory service manual) from there. The Factory manual is available from any dealer (including me).

2. The 7 stands for the grade of the metal used to make the screws. Most technicians don't whip out the torque wrench for the base gasket job; They use a short ratchet handle (to limit torque) and tighten them evenly, per the tightening sequence in the Factory service manual. If memory serves, it's around 22 ft-lbs. or so.
