just bought a used NS40C...

I don't know much about Nissan's, any special thing to look after?

The serial looks like this: NS40C 361A-1 80328, Any idea on the year of this engine? Blue foot, Silver engine cover.

Any reliable Internet Nissan part supplier ? Don't need any at this point, but for future references..

Thanks

Louis

Re: Nissan NS40C tips? year?

I have had one from the mid-80's. it's been a great motor and have no plans to ever sell. Outside of standard used outboard stuff:

- Impeller change
- Engine Decarb
- Lower unit oil change
- Tune-up, new plugs, carb adj, timing
- Linkage lube

You should be good to go. Recommend getting a service manual, and you can do the work yourself.

Re: Nissan NS40C tips? year?

thanks a lot for the suggestion, who publishes the service manual for that engine? This is the first non-mercury engine I buy. I was looking for a very lightweight 40hp, at 130lbs I think we made the right choice!

We'll use it to power a 14' inflatable I'll probably be looking for a 13 pitch propeller. If it's not already what's on the engine.

Give Elvin (above) a call. He will have the manual and parts you need. I have a non-oem manual, it is not too bad, but the factory manuals that Elvin has, are probably better.

Yea, there are not many 2cyl 40hp outboards around. I had many an Evinrude/Johnson before converting to Nissan/Tohatsu. I purchased an Nissan 18E from Elvin in '97 for another boat.
