Nissan NS30 Water Pump Question

The other day I had taken the 1996 Nissan 30 out for some night fishing.
I had changed the complete water pump with a Tohatsu OEM repair kit before putting it in the water.
The day I put the pump in, it pumped but not a full stream at idle like my Tohatsu 25.
During the night I moved the boat from 1 location to another.
Then, when it was time to leave (2:00am) I noticed the tattle tail just barely spit water out.
So, I pulled the cowl and put my hand on the head while I ran to the main canal.
It didn't get too hot (almost to the point where I didn't like it) but we were lucky
to get a tow back to the launch (12 miles).
The next day I took the lower unit off and removed the thermostat.
I ran a water hose to the pipe in the exhaust housing and flushed back & forth between
the thermostat housing (Both Ways), the water inlet and the tattle tail.
I didn't use a great deal of pressure but every port I ran water through ran freely.
I then put the thermostat back in and used an old washing machine hose that was cut
(The cut end fit right on with minimal force) and cranked the engine. Again, I didn't use
a great deal of pressure and the flow was fine.

My question is:
Is there a way to improve water pressure created by the impeller by altering the slots in the
plate below the impeller in order to allow more flow and less resistance?
The 2 "Slots" on the plate seem a bit small in my opinion.

Thank You For Your Time And Patience,
Lukus

Sounds like you are pumping and cooling fine. Clear the telltale pee tube and it will probably squirt better.

No, do not cut or enlarge the openings. As Paul said, it's probably a clogged pee tube.
