How difficult is it to replace a cracked cylinder on a 5 hp Nissan outboard?

Re: NIssan cracked cylinder

Welcome to Iboats,

Not on your own, will need to send crankcase to a machine shop to have it done, insert a new compatible sleeve if can find one or machine shop is highly skilled to make one for you. Other than that will need to buy a new block,.

If you can find a reasonably-priced machine shop to replace the sleeve... maybe. But if you want to replace the block for the NS5B, expect to shell out about $500 new; for an NSF5B, about $300 new. Likely not worth it. Better to find a donor motor with a blown up LU.
