sometimes after priming and starting i only go about 100 yards then it quits. squeeze bulb agin and runs ok till i stop for awhile and it does this again. can't tell if i have any air leaks and think i replaced the primer bulb and line about a year ago. i was going to replace the pump but noticed in a parts breakdown that the pump has a check ball inside. do these ever cause problems. already bought a new line and bulb and haven't tried that yet. seems like it would have to leak in the pump to lose prime. help, really don't want to buy pump but hate this problem, any thoughts appreciated. thanks

Re: nissan 90a fuel problem

Clearly you are not getting adequate fuel delivery of the motor's own accord. That means either you are not drawing adequate fuel (due to a pump or restriction issue), or you have a vacuum leak between the pump and the fuel supply.

The pump does not have any check balls... only reed-type check valves.

Is the fuel filter clear, and is the settling bowl properly sealed to the filter housing? If you connect a vacuum gaige to the pump inlet, how much vacuum does it draw? Have you verified that the o-rings of the primer hose are OK? Have you considered inspecting and/or replacing the FP diaphragms?

Curious. Is your tank vented well?

The o-rings are not available from Tohatsu/Nissan. Having said that, you can always visit your local auto parts store and try to match something up.

the clogged or blocked vent sounds probable since the last time i tried draining tank thru the hose it didn't want to siphon out very good or at all.

You could try using a portable tank to test that idea.
