I am looking to swap a 20 HP Evinrude for a 10 HP motor of some sort. A fellow has offered to swap a 9.9 Nissan 2 stroke.
Anyone have comments on the reliability of Nissan outboards?
Are parts readily available?
I do not know exactly how old the Nissan is. I have seen a photo and the cover is mostly white with blue and red decals if that means anything to anyone.

Why are you swapping ? a 9.9 is half of a 20 HP, will it suit your boating needs ? Nissans are rebadged Tohatsu OB's. Share same parts, check which model is it or post internal pics. Newer models are preffered versus older discontinued ones.

Has become a moot point as I sold the 20 HP and he sold the Nissan 9.9 HP so no trade will occur.
The reason for wanting the smaller motor is that the boat is small and I thought 20 HP was too much for it.
I bought boat, motor and trailer and really only wanted the boat, so have since sold the trailer and the motor.
Looking to get either a 9.? or a 15 in place of the old 20HP Evinrude for next spring.

Go for a Nissan/Tohatsu 9.9 HP and convert it into a 15 HP for peanuts cost or buy a 15 HP one. If both are D2 series much better, are the latter models in current production in Japan.
